PUBG Mobile removes disputed game item following community outrage

Popular battle royale game PUBG Mobile has issued a public apology after facing backlash over the name of a recently updated in-game item. The game developer confirmed that the item has now been removed from the game following concerns raised by players and members of the community.

In an official statement released on May 12, 2026, the PUBG Mobile team said it deeply regretted the hurt and anguish caused by the update and acknowledged the feedback received from players worldwide.

The statement read that the company “respects the values, traditions and practices” of its players and apologised for the controversy surrounding the item’s name. PUBG Mobile also confirmed that the item was removed immediately after the issue came to light.

According to the statement, the company remains committed to creating a “safe and inclusive environment for everyone” and will continue reviewing its content approval and vetting processes to ensure greater sensitivity toward different religions, cultures, and practices.

The developers further thanked fans and players for bringing the issue to their attention and assured the community that player feedback would continue to shape future updates.

The apology was jointly issued under the PUBG Mobile banner along with associated companies including Krafton, Level Infiniteand Lightspeed Studios.
