LPG Subsidy: New campaign on LPG subsidy started, know which customers will get the benefit and whose subsidy may be stopped?
Tezzbuzz Desk- The stir regarding LPG gas subsidy has once again intensified across the country. Government oil marketing companies (OMCs) have started checking the income of customers taking subsidy. Gas subsidy can be stopped for consumers or their spouses whose annual taxable income is more than Rs 10 lakh. Companies are also sending warning messages to customers in this regard.
In the messages being sent by government oil companies to the customers, it is clearly stated that if the taxable income of the customer or his spouse is found to be more than the prescribed limit, then the LPG subsidy will be stopped permanently. The message has asked customers to respond within seven days. In such a situation, the curiosity has increased among millions of consumers to know what LPG subsidy is and who are eligible for it.
What is LPG subsidy?
LPG subsidy is an important scheme of the Central Government, the objective of which is to provide cooking gas to the common people at affordable rates. In this system, consumers buy gas cylinders at market price, while the subsidy amount is later sent directly to their bank account. This process operates under the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system, whereby the subsidy reaches the beneficiary directly.
Which companies provide LPG subsidy?
Mainly three government oil companies provide the facility of LPG subsidy in the country – Indane of Indian Oil Corporation, HP Gas of Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited, Bharat Gas of Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited. Through these companies, the benefit of domestic LPG connection and subsidy is provided across the country.
Who gets the benefit of gas subsidy?
To get LPG subsidy, the customer must have a domestic gas connection. Consumers with commercial or industrial connections are not eligible for this scheme.
Apart from this, the total annual taxable income of the customer and his spouse should be less than Rs 10 lakh. The government has also made it mandatory that the LPG connection be linked to the Aadhar card and bank account. Customers who have voluntarily given up subsidy under the ‘Give It Up’ scheme will not get the benefit again.
New DAC system implemented in gas delivery
Oil companies have also implemented DAC systems to make the LPG delivery process more secure. Now the delivery of the cylinder will be considered complete only when the customer tells the verification code to the delivery agent. The purpose of this new system is to stop fake delivery and misuse of gas. Companies say that this will increase both customer security and transparency.
If you have received a message from an oil company, do not ignore it. Update your income and documents information on time, so that you do not have to face any problem related to LPG subsidy in future.
