Who is Nahid Rana?
Nahid Rana looks quite different from the traditional cricket set-up of Bangladesh. He belongs to Chapai Nawabganj, the north-western district of the country. While most bowlers in Bangladesh rely on medium pace, Naheed is known for his pace and aggressive style. Interestingly, he started playing cricket at the age of 18, which is considered quite late for a professional cricketer.

Nahid Rana’s journey becomes special because he made his way to the national team without playing Under-19 cricket. In the 2022-23 first class season, he performed brilliantly, taking 41 wickets and impressed the selectors. After this, even though he took only five wickets in his account in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), his speed and aggressive bowling won the trust of the team management and selectors.
Due to this strong performance, he got a place in the Bangladesh Test team in 2024. He made his Test debut for Bangladesh on 22 March 2024 against Sri Lanka. He took 5 wickets in both the innings of this match together.
