BAN vs PAK: Pakistan’s first Test defeat in Bangladesh, host’s third consecutive win over the neighboring country

BAN vs PAK 1st Test Highlights: The bad phase of Pakistan cricket team in Test cricket is continuously deepening. Bangladesh created history by defeating Pakistan by 104 runs in the first Test played at Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka. This is the first time that Pakistan faced defeat in a Test match on Bangladeshi soil. With this victory, Bangladesh took a big step towards winning the series.

The Pakistan team, which came to chase the target of 268 runs, never appeared to be in complete control in the match. The start was very bad and Imam-ul-Haq became the victim of Taskin Ahmed after scoring just 2 runs. After this, Abdullah Fazal certainly played a fighting inning of 66 runs, but other batsmen could not support him.

Pakistan’s first test defeat in Bangladesh
Pakistan’s hopes were pinned on the partnership of Mohammad Rizwan and Saud Shakeel. Both of them managed the team for some time, but then Bangladesh’s young fast bowler Nahid Rana completely changed the course of the match. Nahid first dismissed Rizwan and Shakeel, then destroyed the lower order and sealed Pakistan’s defeat.

Nahid Rana opened his claws
Due to rain, much of the play on the third and fourth days was washed out, but on the fifth day, Bangladesh showed aggressive style. The team declared its second innings at 240/9. Captain Nazmul Hussain Shanto scored a brilliant 87 runs and put the team in a strong position. His innings included seven fours. Mehdi Hasan also took the lead beyond 250 by adding 24 runs.

Mehdi Hasan took 5 wickets in the first innings
Earlier, Bangladesh had scored 413 runs in the first innings. In reply, Pakistan team was reduced to 386 runs and from here the host team took control of the match. Off-spinner Mehdi Hasan had put pressure on Pakistan by taking five wickets in the first innings.

At tea, Pakistan had four wickets left and the match seemed to be heading towards a draw, but Nahid Rana’s fast and disciplined spell changed everything. The entire Pakistan team disintegrated under pressure. With this victory, Bangladesh has got 12 important points of the World Test Championship. For Pakistan, this defeat became another big story of increasing difficulties and weak performance in Test cricket.
