Toll tax started on Ganga Expressway, know new rates
The 15-day free travel facility on the Ganga Expressway from Meerut to Prayagraj has ended. Now all vehicles will be charged according to the distance traveled under the new closed toll system.
Lucknow: Toll tax collection has now started on the longest Ganga Expressway of Uttar Pradesh. After the inauguration on April 29, people were given free travel facility for 15 days. Now after the implementation of the closed toll system, the drivers will have to pay the fee according to the distance covered.
Free travel facility ends after 15 days
The facility of toll-free travel on Ganga Expressway has now ended. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had inaugurated this expressway on 29 April. After this, the state government had given free travel facility to the people for 15 days.
Now Adani Infrastructure and IRB Infrastructure have started toll collection in different parts. Toll collection started from 12 noon on Thursday night.
Recovery will be done through closed toll system
According to Uttar Pradesh Expressway Industrial Development Authority (UPEDA), closed toll system has been implemented on Ganga Expressway. This means that the vehicle will have to pay toll according to the distance it travels.
The toll rate for light vehicles like cars, jeeps and vans has been fixed at Rs 2.55 per kilometre. For the entire journey of about 594 kilometers from Meerut to Prayagraj, one may have to pay toll of around Rs 1800.
Toll rates fixed for different vehicles
Different tolls have been prescribed for different categories of vehicles on the Ganga Expressway:
- Two-wheeler, three-wheeler and tractor: Rs 905
- Car, Jeep and Van: Rs 1800
- Light commercial vehicles: Rs 2840
- Bus and Truck: Rs 5720
- Multi axle and heavy machine vehicles: Rs 8760
- Oversize vehicle: Rs 11265
Apart from this, additional fees may also be charged for some bridges and special infrastructure.
Expressway extends from Meerut to Prayagraj
The Ganga Expressway is a total of 594 kilometers long and passes through Meerut, Hapur, Bulandshahr, Amroha, Sambhal, Badaun, Shahjahanpur, Hardoi, Unnao, Rae Bareli, Pratapgarh and Prayagraj.
This project has been constructed under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model. Different parts of the expressway have been constructed by Adani Infrastructure and IRB Infrastructure.
