Prateek Yadav’s death: A look at the dangers of pulmonary thrombo embolism
Pratik Yadav passes away
On May 13, Prateek Yadav, younger son of Samajwadi Party founder and former Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav, passed away. His age was only 38 years. In recent times, he was facing difficulty in breathing and the problem of blood clotting in the veins of his legs. The post mortem report listed the cause of his death as pulmonary thrombo embolism. In this condition, blood clotting affects the functioning of the heart and lungs, which can lead to sudden death of the person.
What is pulmonary thrombo embolism?
After Prateek’s death, the blood clotting disease Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT) has again come into discussion. It is important to know when a blood clot forms in the body. When there is an injury in the body, a clot forms to stop the flow of blood. Sometimes, even without injury, blood starts clotting in the veins. If the blood clot becomes large, it can break off and travel to other parts of the body, which is called deep vein thrombosis. When these clots reach the veins of the lungs, it is called pulmonary thrombo embolism (PTE), which can be fatal.
due to this disease
- sitting in one place for a long time
- surgery or injury
- blood clotting disorder
- Cancer and other diseases
According to the Cleveland Clinic, symptoms of pulmonary thromboembolism include leg pain, swelling, warmth, severe chest pain, cough, pale skin, dizziness and fainting.
preventive measures
To avoid this disease, some precautions should be taken: do not sit at one place for a long time, take a walk in between during work, drink adequate amount of water, exercise regularly, do not take any medicine without doctor’s advice, and do not ignore the changes in the body. This disease can be avoided with awareness. In case of shortness of breath, contact a doctor immediately.
