Major reshuffle in Maharashtra Police: 96 IPS and State Police Service officers transferred

In a major reshuffle in the state police administration, the Maharashtra government on Friday (May 15) announced the transfer and promotion of 96 IPS and State Police Service officers. Under this comprehensive administrative change, all the five Joint Commissioners of Mumbai Police have been replaced. In the order issued by the Home Department, new responsibilities have been assigned to many senior officials of the state.

The most important appointment in this reshuffle is considered to be that of Manoj Kumar Sharma, who has been given the charge of Law and Order in Mumbai Police. Anil Kumbhare has been appointed as the new Joint Police Commissioner of Mumbai Crime Branch. Satyanarayan Chaudhary has been made the Joint Commissioner of the Traffic Department, while Rajesh Pradhan has been given the responsibility of the Economic Offenses Wing. Suvez Haq has been appointed Joint Commissioner (Administration).

According to the order issued by the state government, large-scale changes have been made not only at the Joint Commissioner level, but also at the Additional CP and Deputy Commissioner levels. Mokshada Patil, Dixit Gedam, Krishnakant Upadhyay and Praveen Mundhe have been promoted as additional police commissioners in Mumbai.

Apart from this, officers like Jayant Meena, Abhay Singh Deshmukh, Ganesh Shinde, Pankaj Dahane, Kavita Nerkar, Purnima Chougule, Himmat Jadhav and Shivaji Pawar have been transferred as Deputy Commissioners in Mumbai.

Many important appointments have also been made at the state level. IPS Krishna Prakash has been appointed Additional Director General of Police (Training). Dutta Karale has been made Special Inspector General (Special IG) in the State Human Rights Commission, while Praveen Padwal has been appointed Special Inspector General of Nashik Range. Lakshmi Gautam has been made Special Inspector General of Law and Order Department and Mahesh Patil has been made Special Inspector General of Planning and Coordination Department.

Making changes in Anti Terrorism Squad (ATS) also, Paramjeet Dahiya has been appointed as Special Inspector General of ATS. Whereas C.K. Meena has been made Konkan Range, Sanjay Darade as Pune Joint Commissioner, Ranjan Sharma as Kolhapur Special Inspector General and Sunil Phulari as Special Inspector General of CID. Nishit Mishra has been appointed as Training Department and Jayakumar as Special Inspector General of Force One. Sanjay Yenpure has been given the responsibility of VIP security department.

In other major appointments, Sanjay Jadhav has been made Additional Police Commissioner of Thane, Dilip Sakore has been made Navi Mumbai Joint Commissioner and Punjabrao Ugle has been made Special Inspector General of Police Housing Department. S. V. Pathak has been appointed Special Inspector General of Pune and Vinayak Deshmukh has been appointed Controller of Legal Metrology Department.

In this reshuffle, Jyoti Priya Singh has got the responsibility of Special Inspector General of Anti-Narcotics Cell. Jeevan Beniwal has been appointed as Deputy Commissioner of Pune, Shubham Kumar as Additional Superintendent of Police, Pune Rural and Vrishti Jain has been appointed as Deputy Commissioner of Solapur.

Apart from this, Tejashwi Satpute has been appointed as Additional Commissioner in Pune, Ashok Dudhe as DIG of SRPF, Yogesh Gupta as Gadchiroli DIG and Rakesh Ola as Police Commissioner of Amravati. M. Reddy has been made DIG in CID Pune.

This major administrative reshuffle of the state government is being considered an important step towards making law and order, anti-terrorism action, crime control and police administration more effective. After the officers assume the new charge, changes may be seen at many levels in the police system in the coming time.
