Oil Crisis: The world kept watching and India did it! A huge ship carrying 20,000 tonnes of gas reached Gujarat after crossing the dangerous sea route.
Amidst the huge tension spread in West Asia (Middle East) and the fear of stopping the supply of oil and gas across the world, a big and relief news has come out for India. Amidst the outcry all around and concerns about the oil crisis, a huge sea tanker loaded with about 20 thousand tonnes of LPG has reached India safely. This Marshall Islands flagged tanker, named ‘Simi’, has successfully anchored at Kandla Port located in Kutch district of Gujarat. This tanker entered the Indian border on May 13 after crossing the ‘Strait of Hormuz’, which is considered the world’s most dangerous and strategically very sensitive.
After all, why is the safe landing of this gas tanker so special?
It is not a common thing for this gas tanker to reach India, because there is a war-like situation on the route through which it has come. The Strait of Hormuz is considered one of the most important and busiest maritime trade routes in the world. This route directly connects the Persian Gulf to international sea routes and acts as a lifeline for the entire world’s energy supply i.e. gas-oil commercial ships. At a time when there is huge tension in the entire region and superpowers around the world are worried about this route, India bringing such a large quantity of LPG is being considered a big success. With this, the danger of shortage of LPG in the country has been averted.
