“Why would I be jealous of Vijay? Kamal Haasan would have become the Chief Minister” – Rajinikanth breaks silence on criticism
Tamil Nadu: Veteran actor Rajnikam held a press conference at his home on Sunday and responded to all the discussions and criticisms that were being associated with his name after the recent political developments. He clearly said that his statements are being misrepresented and despite staying away from politics, he is being continuously dragged into controversies. Rajinikanth said that if he had not come forward and expressed his views, then people would have started considering as true the things which are being spread on social media and political circles.

“Friendship with Stalin is above politics”
The actor told that after the election results he had gone to meet MK Stalin, on which many things started happening. Responding to this, he said that their friendship is far above politics. He also said that he was personally saddened by Stalin’s defeat.
Expressing his displeasure, Rajinikanth said that he is not the kind of person who would comment on anyone without any reason or be upset with someone’s success. He said that as soon as the new Vijay won, he immediately wished him all the best.
“Vijay made his place alone”
Rajinikanth also spoke openly on the questions asked about Vijay during the press conference. He said that Vijay has made his own mark in Tamil politics and it was not easy to win by standing against two big parties. He said, “I have been away from politics a long time ago. In such a situation, there is no question of being jealous of Vijay. There is a difference of almost a generation between us. I have been watching him since childhood.” Rajinikanth jokingly said that if Kamal Haasan had become the Chief Minister then perhaps he would have been jealous, but such thinking about Vijay is wrong.

According to him, the public should give some time to Vijay so that he can work without pressure. He said that people have high expectations from the new government and he is confident that Vijay will try to live up to those expectations.
