IMD’s alert: There will be heavy rain in these states for the next 7 days, there will be relief from the scorching heat

New Delhi: While the heat is troubling people in North India, monsoon-like rains have started in South and North-East India. The Meteorological Department has issued a warning of heavy to very heavy rain in many parts of the country for the next seven days.

According to IMD, there will be continuous heavy rains in Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Assam and Meghalaya from May 17 to 23. Also, there are chances of heavy rains in Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim and Andaman Nicobar Islands throughout the next week.

Heavy rains in 6 northeastern states   

The Meteorological Department said that there is a possibility of thunderstorm and lightning along with heavy rain in Assam and Meghalaya on May 18. The weather will remain bad in Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura on May 17.

On May 18 and 19, there will be strong winds along with rain in Nagaland, Manipur and Mizoram. Intermittent heavy rains will continue in these 6 northeastern states throughout the week i.e. from 17th to 23rd May. People have been advised to remain alert.

Clouds will rain in South India also   

The weather patterns will remain changed in South India also for the next three days. There will be heavy rain in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal from 17 to 19 May. There is an alert of heavy rain in Kerala and Mahe from 17 to 21 May. Lakshadweep and coastal Karnataka will receive rain on May 17 and 18.

Coastal Andhra Pradesh will receive scattered to moderate rain with thunderstorms on May 20 and 21. There is a possibility of rain with lightning and strong winds over Interior Karnataka on May 17-18. There will be clouds in Rayalaseema and rest of Andhra Pradesh also.

Weather will change in Uttarakhand and Himachal  

The weather will change in North West India also. There may be sporadic rain in Jammu and Kashmir on 19 and 20 May. There will be rain along with thunderstorms and strong winds in Uttarakhand from 20 to 23 May. There will be rain, lightning and strong wind in Himachal Pradesh between 19th and 23rd May.

Talking about Central India, there are chances of rain, thunder and strong winds in Madhya Pradesh and Vidarbha on 17th May, while in Chhattisgarh on 17th and 18th May. The Meteorological Department has appealed to the people to avoid coming out of their homes during bad weather and not to stand in open fields or under trees during lightning.
