Salman Khan: There was a time when Salman Khan, who lives in a sea facing apartment worth Rs 100 crore in Mumbai and has a total wealth of Rs 2,900 crore, did not even have the money to buy a watch.

In a recent interview with Variety India, the Sikandar star revealed that he had somehow bought a Rolex watch worth Rs 9 lakh for Salim Khan, and this was his first luxury purchase.

Talking about his first big shopping, Salman Khan said, “The first expensive thing I bought… was a watch for my father, a Rolex, and when I started wearing watches again, he gave me that watch to wear.” He further said, “When I got the watch, I did not have money to buy it, but I liked that watch for my father. At that time it must have cost around Rs 9 lakh. I had only Rs 4 lakh.” He somehow bought the watch and promised to pay the remaining amount in the next 4-6 months.

Recalling that moment, Salman Khan told that when he had gifted this watch to his father, Salim Khan scolded him, “The work has not started yet and you have started all these activities.” While narrating the further story, the ‘Tiger’ actor said that but when he saw the watch, he was happy. He called it ‘Piece of Jewel’.

The Tiger 3 actor admitted that he had stopped wearing watches for 26-28 years, but started wearing them again later. When he did so, Salim Khan gifted him the Rolex watch that Salman had bought for him years ago. Salman Khan said, “If you see me wearing watches, it does not mean that they are mine.” He quipped that most of them belong to his friends and he gets them.
