From ‘CM Di Yogshala’ to ‘Aam Aadmi Clinic’, Punjab has created a comprehensive protective shield against hypertension.
Punjab News: On the occasion of World Hypertension Day, the Punjab government has fully geared up its health services to prevent serious diseases like high blood pressure in the state. Hypertension is considered a dangerous silent killer in the medical world because its symptoms are not visible initially. This disease keeps hollowing the human body from within and later takes the form of major diseases like stroke, heart failure. In view of this danger, the Health Department of Punjab is now paying special attention to timely identification of the disease and providing immediate treatment to the patients.
The disease is affecting the youth also
Health experts say that with the changing times, people’s lifestyle has become very bad. Nowadays, mental stress, unbalanced diet, lack of physical exercise and tobacco consumption are increasing this disease rapidly. Earlier it was believed that high blood pressure occurs only in the elderly, but now this perception has changed. In today’s time, young and middle aged people are also increasingly falling prey to it. People are falling victim to this serious disease and reaching hospitals at an early age.
Investigation of more than one crore people in Punjab
To deal with this dangerous situation, the Health Department of Punjab has started a huge campaign at the grassroots level. Regular screening of citizens above thirty years of age is being done at all the common man clinics and primary health centers of the state. This investigation campaign has yielded very positive results. According to the data received from the Health Department, till now testing of more than one crore people has been completed in the state. Out of these, about twenty-four lakh people have been brought under treatment and their lives have been saved.
Provision of free treatment in common man clinics
Punjab Health Minister Dr. Balbir Singh has shared detailed information about this campaign. He told that at present about nine hundred ninety Aam Aadmi Clinics are working with full strength in the state. The patients coming to all these centers are being given absolutely free medicines along with the facility of regular check-up. If the condition of a patient is more serious, there is a complete arrangement to immediately refer him to a bigger hospital. The health department follows up the patients every month so that their health can be continuously monitored.
CM gave initiative to improve health through Yogashala
Along with medicines, the Punjab government is also motivating people to adopt a good and healthy lifestyle. For this, a very unique initiative named CM Di Yogashala has been started in the state. At present, more than ten thousand six hundred yoga classes are being run across Punjab, in which approximately three lakh people are participating every day. Through these yoga classes, people are being taught the importance of stress management and regular exercise, so that blood pressure can be controlled without heavy medicines.
Doctors advised to get tested on time
Dr. Saurabh Sharma, Associate Professor, Department of Cardiology, Government Medical College and Rajindra Hospital has expressed deep concern over this disease. He says that many patients come to know about this disease when their heart or kidneys are on the verge of failure. The biggest reasons for increasing cases among youth are mental stress, poor eating habits and irregular daily routine. He has advised that this disease can be completely defeated by timely testing and constant contact with the doctor.
