Shahi Imam announced, Bakrid will be celebrated across the country on May 28.
New Delhi: The wait across the country regarding the date of Bakrid i.e. Eid al Adha is now over. Shahi Imam of Jama Masjid Syed Shaban Bukhari has announced that this year Eid-ul-Azha will be celebrated on May 28. This announcement was made after the sighting of the moon, with which preparations for the festival have intensified across the country. People of the Muslim community are now busy preparing for prayers, sacrifices and rituals related to the festival.
Bakrid is the festival of faith and humanity
Bakrid is considered one of the most important festivals of Islam. It is called the festival of sacrifice, faith and humanity. On this day, the Muslim community offers special prayers and remembers the sacrifice and dedication of Hazrat Ibrahim by making sacrifices in the name of Allah. The purpose of the festival is not only to follow religious traditions but also to help the needy and spread the message of brotherhood in the society.
The Islamic calendar is completely based on the movements of the moon. The beginning of every new month is considered only after the moon is visible. Dhul-Hijja is the last month of the Islamic year and is considered very sacred. Haj pilgrimage also takes place in this month. Therefore, the eyes of Muslims all over the world remain fixed on the announcement of sighting of the moon.
On the other hand, preparations for Haj have intensified in Saudi Arabia also. Every year lakhs of devotees reach Mecca and complete the religious pilgrimage of Hajj. The Supreme Court of Saudi Arabia had appealed to the people to try to see the moon and to inform the concerned authorities if the moon is seen.
