IPL-19: DC gave a shock to RR, Akshar-Ashutosh maintained mild hopes after Starc’s lethal bowling.

New Delhi, 17 May. Defending champions Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) may have clinched the first ticket to the playoffs by defeating Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the first match of the double header on Sunday, but with just eight matches left in the league stage, the battle for the other three spots still continues between a total of seven teams. In the same series, Delhi Capitals (DC) shocked Rajasthan Royals (RR) with a five-wicket win with four balls to spare at the Arun Jaitley Stadium and kept their own hopes alive.

Rajasthan could reach 193 runs even after quick innings of Vaibhav, Jurel and Parag.

Rajasthan Royals, forced to bat first, could only reach 193 runs for eight wickets despite another astonishing innings of teenage sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi (46 runs, 21 balls, three sixes, five fours) and aggressive half-centuries from Dhruv Jurel (53 runs, 40 balls, two sixes, five fours) and captain Ryan Parag (51 runs, 26 balls, five sixes, three fours).

Starc took 3 wickets in the 15th over. RR’s run pace derailed

In fact, senior Kangaroo pacer Mitchell Starc (4-40) suddenly derailed the guests’ run pace by returning three batsmen including Parag in the 15th over, reaching 160 runs for two wickets in the 14th over. At present, captain Akshar Patel (34 not out, 18 balls, two sixes, two fours) and Ashutosh Sharma (18 not out, five balls, two sixes, one four) took charge at the time of need and ensured the victory of the team in the last over, which scored 197 runs for five wickets in 19.2 overs.

Capitals maintain superiority over Royals in the current season

Interestingly, in the current season, Delhi Capitals maintained their superiority over Rajasthan Royals and achieved their second consecutive win. Now with the sixth win in 13 matches, DC with 12 points snatched the seventh place from Kolkata Knight Riders (11 points in 12 matches). Capitals will play their last match against KKR only. Well, Akshar maintained patience in the time of need. David Miller (nine runs, one six) became the second victim of Brijesh after adding 22 runs with Akshar. But Ashutosh showed a fearless attitude. Delhi needed 19 runs in the last two overs and Impact sub Ashutosh ensured the team’s victory by hitting a six to Brijesh Sharma in the 19th over and a four and a six to Adam Milne in the first two balls of the last over.

Indian record of most number of 43 sixes in a season in the name of Vaibhav

Earlier, in Rajasthan’s innings, opener Yashasvi Jaiswal (12 runs, nine balls, three fours) became the victim of Lungi Ngidi (2-24) in the very second over. But Vaibhav showed his strong hand with Dhruv. It can be easily guessed that 75 runs were added in the powerplay. In this sequence, Vaibhav became India’s top batsman, hitting the maximum number of 43 sixes in a single session. However, he is still far behind Chris Gayle (59 sixes).

Jurel made quick half-century partnerships with Vaibhav and Parag

When Madhav Tiwari (2-27) broke the partnership of 70 runs in 34 balls by getting Vaibhav caught by Miller in the eighth over, Jurel got the support of Parag. Both of them made another stormy partnership of 72 runs in just 41 balls. At one time it seemed that the Royals would reach around 230.

Starc gave such a blow that the line was destroyed.

But Starc, the master of seam and swing, put the guests under deep pressure. After returning Parag and Donovan Ferreira (zero) on the second and third balls of the 15th over, he also dismissed Ravi Singh (four runs) on the fifth ball. After this the line was set and within 32 balls, six batsmen returned with a lead of 30 runs.
