Monsoon increased speed, big update from IMD; Know when it will rain in Delhi-UP

New Delhi: Amidst the scorching heat across the country, relief news regarding monsoon has come to light. The Southwest Monsoon has gained momentum ahead of schedule and reached the Southeast Arabian Sea, many parts of the Bay of Bengal, Andaman Sea and Nicobar Islands on May 16.

What is the forecast of the weather department?

The Meteorological Department estimates that monsoon may hit Kerala by May 26. If this happens, it will be about four to five days before the normal date. Generally, the entry of monsoon in Kerala is considered to be on 1st June.

Due to premature activation of monsoon, hopes of getting relief from the scorching heat in many parts of the country have increased. After reaching Kerala, monsoon gradually moves from south to north India and rainy season starts in different states. However, meteorologists say that the further speed of monsoon depends on many weather conditions. Therefore, slight variation in the date of its arrival is possible in every state.

Talking about North India, monsoon usually reaches Uttar Pradesh around June 15. Its entry in some eastern and northern areas of the state can happen by June 20. This time, due to indications of early arrival in Kerala, it is expected that monsoon may arrive a little earlier in UP also. However, this has not been officially confirmed yet. Monsoon is expected to reach Delhi by June 25.

Even in Central India, the effect of monsoon becomes visible from the second week of June. Monsoon arrives in Maharashtra and Telangana around 10th June. After this, rains may start in many parts of Madhya Pradesh from June 15, while in some areas monsoon is likely to reach by June 20. In Chhattisgarh too, good rains are expected till mid-June.

When will monsoon reach Tamil Nadu?

In the states of South India, monsoon may reach Tamil Nadu by June 1. Whereas in Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh, there is a possibility of rain starting around June 5. The temperature is expected to drop due to early monsoon rains in these states.

Talking about Eastern India, monsoon can reach Bihar by June 15. In Gujarat, rains are likely to start around June 20, while in some areas monsoon may become active till June 25. People in Rajasthan may have to wait the longest, because there the monsoon is likely to reach the last week of June or the first week of July.

In the hilly states of Uttarakhand and Jammu and Kashmir, monsoon may also reach by the last week of June. According to the Meteorological Department, this time there are indications that the monsoon will be better than normal, which can provide great relief to areas suffering from agriculture and water crisis.
