After the match, he admitted that he was putting too much pressure on himself in the initial stages, which affected both his game and mental state.

“I forgot to enjoy the game”

Speaking to reporters after the match, Allen said that in the early matches of the tournament, “I was trying to prove myself in every situation. During that time, I probably became a bit of a hollow person and it was all my own fault.”

He told that cricket has always been a game of joy and passion for him, but during that time he was not able to enjoy batting. The constant mental pressure made him feel “hollow” and this directly affected his performance. He could score only 81 runs in the first five innings, after which the team management kept him out of the playing eleven in three consecutive matches.
