The weather is likely to be clear in Delhi today. During the day, winds can blow at a speed of 20 to 30 kilometers per hour. The effect of heat will be seen in Delhi today. According to the Meteorological Department, today the maximum temperature in Delhi is expected to be between 42 to 44 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature is expected to be between 25 to 27 degrees Celsius. The Meteorological Department also said that the maximum temperature may be recorded slightly above normal.

Heat havoc in UP-Bihar
The effect of extreme heat is continuously increasing in Uttar Pradesh. According to the Meteorological Department, the temperature has reached close to 45 degrees Celsius at many places in Uttar Pradesh and it is likely to increase further in the coming days. There is a possibility of heat wave in many areas of the state between May 9 and 22, while severe heat wave may be seen at some places in the southern parts. The Meteorological Department has issued a weather warning and advised people to remain alert.
Along with this, heat wave continues to wreak havoc in Bihar also. The mercury has increased due to strong sunlight in many districts of Bihar. However, relief may also be available in some districts of Bihar today. According to the Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of rain and thunderstorm in some districts of Bihar. An alert has also been issued in some districts regarding this.
Heat wave alert in these states
The Meteorological Department has issued a heat wave alert in many states of North India today. The states where the Meteorological Department has issued a heat wave alert include Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Vidarbha, Marathwada and Telangana. The Meteorological Department has said that the heat will remain like this till the coming 23rd. Along with this, people have been advised not to go out of the house unnecessarily during the day.

Weather in hilly states
On one hand, the effect of heat wave is being seen in most of the states of North India, while on the other hand the weather remains cold in the hilly states. Rains are still continuing in the hilly states. According to the Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of light to moderate rain with thunderstorms and strong winds in Jammu and Kashmir on May 19 and 20. In Himachal Pradesh, between May 19 and 23, there may be rain, lightning and strong winds at a speed of 40 to 50 kilometers per hour at many places. Along with this, there is a possibility of rain in Uttarakhand also.
