Kolkata. A very good news is coming for the government employees and women of West Bengal. Lakhs of employees of the state are soon going to get the gift of bumper salary hike as the way has finally been cleared for the implementation of 7th Pay Commission in the state. BJP had promised this in its manifesto during the elections and now this proposal has also been approved in the important meeting of the state cabinet. After this decision the faces of the employees lit up.
Ban on religious grants and OBC list to be re-examined
While on one hand the government has given a big gift to the employees, on the other hand some other big decisions have been taken in the cabinet meeting. According to the new cabinet decision, the West Bengal government has currently banned all types of religious ex-gratia grants. Along with this, all the ex-gratia grants received under the I&CA department have also been banned by the government. Not only this, the OBC list of the state government prepared during the tenure of the previous government has also now come under controversy and scrutiny. The government is now preparing to evaluate this entire list afresh.
Rs 3,000 will come to women’s account every month and bus travel will be absolutely free.
After the cabinet meeting, State Women and Child Development Minister Agnimitra Paul held a spectacular press conference and announced many major public welfare decisions. He informed that the Cabinet has given its green signal to ‘Annapurna Scheme’ in the state. Through this wonderful scheme, financial assistance of Rs 3,000 will be given directly into their accounts every month to the eligible women of the state from June 1. Along with this, giving another big gift to women, the government has announced that from June 1 itself, travel in government buses will be made completely free for the women of the state. The government believes that these two big steps will directly and hugely benefit half the population of the state.
Years old demand fulfilled, now salary will increase in account
Government employees and various organizations of West Bengal have been strongly demanding the implementation of the Seventh Pay Commission in the state for a long time. Now that the government has given its final approval on this, there will be a huge jump in the salaries of the employees. Generally, as per the set rules, the salary structure and pay structure of government employees is amended or changed every 10 years. In such a situation, lakhs of employees, pensioners and government teachers of West Bengal are going to get direct and huge benefits from this big decision. As soon as the new pay scale is implemented, not only the basic salary will increase, but there is every possibility of a huge increase in dearness allowance and other government facilities.
