But this is hundred percent true. A very old and rare black and white video of Aamir Khan from 1988 is currently going viral on social media. In this video, today’s global superstar Aamir Khan is seen roaming the streets of Mumbai like a normal kid pasting posters and stickers of his debut film on the back of an auto-rickshaw. Not only his fans, but also the young actors of today are in awe of this video.

This is the year 1988, when Aamir Khan was about to make his Bollywood debut as a lead actor. His film Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak was on the verge of release. In those days there was no social media, digital PR or multi-crore promotion budgets like today. A lot of physical effort had to be done to bring the film to the people. The film was produced by Aamir’s uncle Naseer Hussain and directed by his cousin Mansoor Khan. As the budget of the film was limited and Aamir himself took the promotion on his shoulders to give the new actors exposure in the market.

‘That’ thrill on Carter Road, Mumbai

They are stopping the auto-rickshaws begging the drivers and putting small posters of their films behind the rickshaws. Some rickshaw pullers are happily allowing posters to be put up, while others are refusing and moving on. The actor, whom millions flock to catch a glimpse of today, running behind cars passing by on the road pasting his stickers, is a sight that is mind-blowing and inspiring in equal measure.
