TVS To Build Atlas 585 Adventure Motorcycle In India: Launch Timeline Revealed
TVS Motor Company officially acquired Norton Motorcycles in 2020. Since then, TVS has been working hard to revive the brand and, as part of its strategy, it has planned to launch three new models, which would also be launched in the Indian market. TVS has been testing these motorcycles on our roads for quite some time. One of the upcoming models is the Atlas adventure tourer, and TVS has now revealed that it will officially manufacture the bikes in India. An all-new assembly line will be set up for the Norton models.
TVS launched the Norton Manx R, a 1000cc motorcycle, in the UK recently. Apart from this sports bike, Norton will be bringing a roadster and an adventure tourer to the market. Norton’s adventure tourer model is called the Atlas, and there is plenty of information available about this model online. We even have several videos of the test mules on our roads. The official launch of the Norton Atlas in India is expected to happen later this year. Just like the entry-level BMWs, TVS will be manufacturing the Norton motorcycles at its facility in Hosur. It would also be one of the first Norton models to arrive in India.
There are two variants of this adventure tourer: the Atlas Standard and the Atlas GT. The motorcycles will be offered in Trophy Silver, Matrix Black, Sepia Orange, Verona Green, and Glacier Blue shades. The motorcycle gets a chunky or beefy-looking front end with sleek split headlamp units. We also see LED DRLs outlining the lower part of the headlamp.

We can also spot a large transparent windscreen. If you look carefully, you will notice the USD forks, 17-inch alloy wheels, dual disc brakes at the front, and the apron that completes the front look of the bike. The bike would come with adjustable clutch and brake levers, a sleeker tail section with LED indicators that double up as tail lights, and a tail tidy.
The Atlas GT is a more road-biased adventure tourer, while the Atlas Standard is more off-road-focused. It is possible that Norton might only launch the Atlas GT variant and offer the wired-spoke rims as an accessory to riders.
The Norton Atlas is a middleweight adventure tourer motorcycle and will compete with the likes of the Himalayan 750. It would come with features like keyless ignition, four ride modes (Sport, Touring, Urban, and Off-road), traction control, a bi-directional quickshifter, an 8-inch TFT display, and much more.

Thanks to the rising demand for premium motorcycles and adventure bikes in the market, the upcoming Norton Atlas is expected to carve out a space for itself in the segment. The motorcycle will be powered by a 585cc parallel-twin, liquid-cooled engine, expected to produce around 65–70 PS. The engine architecture is said to be similar to what we will see in the upcoming BMW F450 GS.
It is expected to come with an ample amount of torque across the rev range. It is also expected to get an advanced engine heat-management system for a comfortable ride and component protection. Apart from the Atlas and Manx R, Norton will also have the Manx, which is a naked sports version of the recently launched sports bike.

TVS is aiming to position Norton as a premium brand, and that means it is expected to be on the expensive side. It is expected to be priced at around Rs 6–7 lakh.
