Inter Miami moves ahead in Casemiro chase despite LA Galaxy rights issue
Brazil midfielder Casemiro is edging closer to a move to Inter Miami CF as the MLS side continues negotiations over a potential transfer from Manchester United.
According to reports from The Athletic, Inter Miami has emerged as the preferred destination for the experienced midfielder, with talks progressing between all parties involved.
The report adds that Casemiro is keen on joining the Florida-based club and is open to continuing his career in Major League Soccer. Sources close to the situation believe an agreement is expected to be reached if negotiations continue positively in the coming days.
One major point in the discussions remains the MLS discovery rights owned by LA Galaxy. Under MLS rules, discovery rights can give clubs priority in negotiations for players entering the league. However, Inter Miami is still confident of completing the move despite the complication.
Casemiro joined Manchester United from Real Madrid CF in 2022 and quickly became a key figure in midfield. The Brazilian helped United win the Carabao Cup during his first season and brought leadership and experience to the squad.
In recent months, questions have continued around his long-term future at Old Trafford as Manchester United looks to reshape its midfield under the current project. A move to Inter Miami would also see Casemiro join a growing list of high-profile players choosing MLS in the later stages of their careers.
