Environment and pipeline controversy

British Columbia Premier David Eby is overwhelmingly opposed to the proposed pipeline projects. Their major concern is primarily linked to environmental impact and strong objections from indigenous communities. He says approving oil transportation from the northern coast is risky and not acceptable.

Mark Carney has clarified that several important conditions will apply to any new pipeline project. In this, it will be completely mandatory to build carbon capture system and drastically reduce environmental emissions. Indigenous communities will be properly consulted and the province must also receive significant economic benefits from the project.
