Will Brahmins be the kingmakers of UP in 2027? Now BSP also made its move
Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) had contested the 2007 assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh after the death of Kanshi Ram. In this, BSP had formed the government with full majority. The BSP organization had worked under the formula of social engineering with the alliance of Dalits, Muslims and Brahmins. After the 2012 assembly elections, BSP’s support base kept falling. Then BSP got 80 seats in the assembly. The party could not win a single seat in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections. In the 2017 assembly elections, BSP was limited to only 19 seats. In 2019, the Lok Sabha elections were fought in alliance with the Samajwadi Party and BSP won 10 Lok Sabha seats but this alliance soon broke. In the 4022 assembly elections, BSP was limited to only one seat. BSP contested the 2024 Lok Sabha elections alone and could not win even a single MP.
