BCCI Domestic Schedule: The stage of the season will be set with Duleep Trophy, know the new format of Ranji

Mumbai. The Indian domestic cricket season 2026-27 will begin on August 23 with the Men’s Duleep Trophy featuring six zonal teams. Whereas Ranji Trophy starting from October will be played in two phases. According to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), the Irani Cup will be played after the Duleep Trophy, in which the current Ranji Trophy champions Jammu and Kashmir will face the Rest of India team. This match will be played from October 1. The Ranji Trophy and Under-23 Colonel CK Nayudu Trophy will be conducted in two phases like the last season. In Ranji Trophy, 32 teams will play in the elite group and six teams will play in the plate group.

The first phase of Ranji Trophy will be played between October and November 2026. After this the tournament will start again in January and will continue till February. Meanwhile, Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and Vijay Hazare Trophy will be held. The women’s domestic season will begin with the Senior Women’s T20 Trophy, which will be played in October and November. After this, Senior Women’s Inter Zonal Trophy and then Senior Women’s ODI Trophy and Inter Zonal ODI Trophy will be held between December to February. The women’s age group tournaments will run from November to January.

A new tournament has also been added in the upcoming season. In this, the CK Nayudu Trophy winning team will compete against the rest of India Under 23 team. According to the BCCI, its aim is to “provide a more competitive platform to emerging under-23 cricketers”. The Men’s Under-23 State A Trophy and the Vizzy Trophy for university teams have been changed from ODI to T-20 format.

“The 2026-27 domestic season reflects BCCI’s commitment to building a strong and competitive domestic structure, while ensuring balanced progress across all formats and categories,” the BCCI said in a statement. Keeping in mind the weather conditions in some parts of the country in January, the elite phase of the Under-19 Cooch Behar Trophy will be played entirely in Bengaluru and Mysore. The Under 16 Vijay Merchant Trophy has been postponed and will be held between November and January, so that the players can get better preparation and programs.
