BCCI announces local cricket schedule for 2026-27
Mumbai, 21 May 2026: Domestic cricket schedule for 2026-27 announced The official schedule for the upcoming 2026-27 local season has been announced by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). Like every time, this year too India’s local cricket will be full of enthusiasm and excitement. This new season is going to start with the prestigious ‘Duleep Trophy’, in which the best talents from across the country will showcase their strength.
Duleep Trophy will start from 23rd August
The next domestic season will start from 23rd August with Duleep Trophy. This time the tournament will see a tough competition between six zonal teams. The final match of Duleep Trophy, which the players and fans are eagerly waiting for, will be played on 10th September. After that, the high-voltage ‘Iranian Cup’ will also start immediately from October 1.
Ranji Trophy and C.K. Naidu Trophy will be played in two phases
Keeping in mind the workload management and adequate rest of the players, this time also BCCI has decided to postpone the Ranji Trophy and Colonel C.K. A big decision has been taken to organize the Naidu Trophy in two different phases.
First phase: The first phase of Ranji Trophy will start from 11 October and will continue till 5 November.
Second phase: After that there will be a short break in the tournament and the second phase will start again from January 17 next year.
Ranji Trophy format and group division
This time a total of 32 teams are participating in the Elite Group of Ranji Trophy, India’s most prestigious first-class tournament. To make the tournament more exciting, all these 32 teams will be divided into 4 different groups, where each team will try their best to reach the knockout stage.
This schedule announced by BCCI makes it clear that in the next season, special priority has been given to red-ball cricket, which will play an important role in preparing the young players for Test cricket.
