More than 130 dead in Africa

The Ebola virus is currently spreading rapidly in countries in Central and West Africa. The disease has so far killed more than 130 people and infected more than 500 in the countries of Congo, Uganda, Sudan, Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone. Due to this, the Indian government has started thorough screening of passengers coming to India directly or through other routes, especially from Congo, Uganda and South Sudan at the airport itself.

Instructions to take immediate action as soon as symptoms appear

According to the Centre’s guidelines, if passengers arriving from affected countries show any symptoms of infection, they are required to immediately inform the help desk or health authorities at the airport before the immigration check. In addition, any traveler who has unknowingly come into contact with an Ebola patient is required to notify the Health Department on their own. The Ministry of Health has warned that if Ebola is not taken seriously, a dangerous situation like Corona epidemic may arise.

High Level Meeting of Union Health Secretaries; Issue of SOP to States
