NTA has officially confirmed that a special refund portal has been activated to refund the fees of the examination which was canceled on May 3 due to the paper leak controversy. All such students who had paid the registration fee for the first exam can now start the process of submitting their bank details. Students filling the form from the cafe should pay attention: otherwise the money will go to someone else’s account.

NTA has issued a very important and strong warning to the students regarding this refund process. According to the agency, those students who had filled their form from an internet cafe, had the fees deducted from the bank account/card of a friend or any other person, should go to the refund module within the stipulated dates. Your own bank account details Must be updated compulsorily.

If students do not do so, the refund amount will automatically go back to the same old account from which the payment was originally deducted. Along with this, until NTA issues clear guidelines on its official website, do not be in a hurry to enter your confidential bank details on any unverified or fake link. Always verify the official URL of NTA thoroughly before proceeding.

How much refund amount will be given according to category?

As per NTA rules, the amount refunded will be exactly equal to the original fees deposited by the students at the time of registration. The complete mathematics of refund according to category is as follows:

General Category: ₹1,700
OBC and EWS: ₹1,600
SC, ST and Divyang (SC/ST/PwD): ₹1,000

NTA has already made it clear that no additional or new fee will be charged from any student for appearing in the re-examination to be held on June 21.

Considering the seriousness of the NEET UG 2026 paper leak issue, the political and administrative stir on this issue has also intensified. Recently, the parliamentary committee headed by Congress leader Digvijay Singh had summoned NTA Chairman Pradeep Kumar Joshi and other senior officials. In this high-level review meeting, implementation of major reforms in the National Testing Agency and the progress report of the paper leak case were discussed. Along with NTA officials, Higher Education Secretary Vineet Joshi and many other top officials of the Education Ministry were also present in the meeting.

Re-exam on June 21: Today is the last chance to change city choice.

Amidst the refund process, NTA has also clarified some very strict and final rules regarding the re-exam to be held on June 21, which students should immediately pay attention to:

Fixed time and mode: This examination will be conducted completely offline i.e. in pen-and-paper mode on June 21, 2026 from 2:00 pm to 5:15 pm.
Last date to change exam city: If a student wants to change the city of his/her examination centre, he/she has to By 11:50 pm on May 21, 2026 This is the last chance to choose the online option. After this no application will be considered.
No change in language: The language (medium) chosen by the students for the examination during the original application cannot be changed under any circumstances. That will be considered final.
No change in date: NTA has strongly clarified that the date of June 21 is final. Even if there is a time clash with any other national or state level examination on that day, the date of NEET will not be extended.
