Rajya Sabha Elections 2026: Announcement of elections on 24 vacant seats
The Election Commission of India (ECI) has officially announced the dates of Rajya Sabha Elections 2026. In June 2026, 24 seats in 11 states of the country are falling vacant, on which voting will be held. According to the Commission, this election will be held simultaneously across the country on June 18, 2026. Counting of votes will also be done on the same day and the entire election process will be completed by June 20.

This time a total of 24 Rajya Sabha seats are falling vacant in 11 states. These include 4 seats each in Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat and Karnataka. 3-3 MPs are retiring in Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan. There will be 2 seats vacant in Jharkhand, while elections will be held on 1 seat each in Manipur, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh and Mizoram. Apart from this, by-elections will also be held on some seats in Tamil Nadu and Maharashtra.

This time around 22 sitting Rajya Sabha MPs will complete their tenure on June 1. Many big names are included in these. According to the information, 11 of these MPs are associated with BJP, 4 with Congress and the remaining 9 with other parties. As the elections are approaching, the stir among political parties regarding new candidates has intensified and the politics of manipulation has also started.
Complete timeline of nomination and elections
The Election Commission has released the schedule of the entire process. Candidates can file nomination till June 8. After this, scrutiny of nomination papers will take place on June 9. If any candidate wants to withdraw his name, he can do so till June 11. Voting will be conducted on June 18 from 9 am to 4 pm, and counting will also be completed on the same day.
