Actor Hemant Modi, accused of murder who was absconding for 12 years, arrested, had changed identity in Bollywood

53-year-old actor Hemant Modi, who was absconding from the police for 12 years, has finally been arrested by the Ahmedabad Crime Branch. The 53-year-old professional actor was serving life imprisonment on murder charges. According to the police, Modi was temporarily released from jail. After which he broke parole and later changed his identity and continued his career with many well-known Bollywood stars and in this way he remained a part of the industry by hiding his identity for 12 years.

Before coming into the entertainment industry, Hemant Modi’s life was completely different. In June 2005, there was a clash in Naroda area of Ahmedabad over a land dispute. A case of murder was registered in this incident. In 2008, the court convicted him in the murder case and sentenced him to life imprisonment. He spent about 6 years in Mehsana District Jail. In 2014, Gujarat High Court gave him parole for 30 days. But after the parole period ended, he did not return to jail. On July 25, 2014, he was officially declared a ‘parole jumper’.

Who is Hemant Modi?

Hemant Nagindas is the full name of Purushottamdas Modi. He is also known by the names Spandan Modi and Twinkle Dave in the film world. He is 53 years old and mainly worked as a supporting actor. This case came into limelight after his arrest by Ahmedabad Crime Branch in May 2026. After his arrest, it was revealed that he was a fugitive prisoner, who had broken parole and was hiding for 12 years.

Hemant Modi continued to work very cleverly to avoid his arrest. According to investigators, at first he remained hidden in Patan, Gujarat. Then he came to Ahmedabad, where he adopted the name Twinkle Mukund Dave. Later he moved to Mumbai and started working in Bollywood and TV industry under the name Spandan Modi. In this way he completely hid his real identity and remained away from the eyes of the police for 12 years.

How did the police get hold of it?

Hemant Modi, living in Naroda, Ahmedabad, was recently traced from Ghee Kanta metro station. The police had been searching for him for almost 12 years. Who have now got success. Ahmedabad DCP Ajit Rajian said Modi was convicted in a 2005 murder case and was serving life imprisonment. Now after being arrested, the crime branch has said that it will hand over Hemant to Mehsana district jail so that he can serve the remaining sentence of his life imprisonment.

The most surprising thing is that despite absconding, Hemant Modi continued his acting career very well. He worked in more than 40 films, television serials and theater shows. He worked in films like ‘Thugs of Hindostan’ with Amitabh Bachchan and Aamir Khan, ‘Jayeshbhai Jordaar’ with Ranveer Singh and ‘Metro… In Din’. Not only this, Hemant’s upcoming film is Sunny Deol starrer ‘Lahore 1947’ and South’s ‘L2: Empuraan’. Apart from films, Modi was also seen in TV serials like Wagle Ki Duniya and ‘Mere Sai’. Police also said that he was active in theater and had acted in dramas like ‘Yugpurush’ and ‘Gandhi Viruddh Godse’.
