The Shopkeeper Who Sold Jhalmuri To PM Modi Is Living In Fear Receiving Threats From Pakistan And Bangladesh
Shopkeeper Vikram Sao, who came into limelight by serving Jhalmuri to Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the election campaign in West Bengal, is now reportedly facing threats. Vikram Sao alleges that he is being given continuous phone and video calls from numbers in Pakistan and Bangladesh and threats of bomb blasts and death.
Vikram Sao suddenly came into limelight as the Jhalmuri seller from West Bengal, at whose shop Prime Minister Modi had stopped during an election rally and tasted Bengal’s famous street food Jhalmuri. Pictures and videos of that incident went viral on social media, after which Vikram Sao’s name became a topic of discussion in the entire country.
Now Vikram Sao has claimed that for the last few days he has been continuously receiving calls from international numbers. According to him, many calls are said to have been made from Pakistan and Bangladesh. He alleged that in these calls, threats were made to kill him and his family and to blow them up with bombs.
After these threats, Vikram Saav and his family are in fear and tension. The matter has been reported to the local police. After receiving the complaint, the police have started investigation and technical investigation of the calls coming from foreign numbers is being done.
Vikram Sao’s viral moment came to light on April 19, when Prime Minister Modi stopped at his Jhalmuri roadside shop in Jhargram while returning from a public meeting in West Bengal. The Prime Minister had Jhalmuri there and later shared the pictures on social media platform
After this incident, Jhalmuri also became a part of Bengal politics. )Mamata Banerjee had described it as a “pre-planned drama”, while the BJP promoted it as the Prime Minister’s style of connecting with the common people. Later, in another election rally, Prime Minister Modi had taken a dig at the Trinamool Congress and said, “I only ate spicy puffed rice, but TMC is feeling the taste.”
Not only this, Prime Minister Modi had recently mentioned Jhalmuri in Netherlands also during his foreign tour of five countries. In a program he had asked smilingly, “Has Jhalmuri reached here too?”
Now what started as a simple election stoppage and viral street food moment has become a cause of concern for Vikram Saav and his family. Local police say that the matter is being investigated seriously and efforts are being made to find out the location and source of the calls.
