Speaking at the annual conference of the American Chamber of Commerce in Delhi, Gore expressed confidence that the deal would be finalized in the coming weeks and months. Talks between the two countries continue
An Indian delegation visited Washington last month to discuss the finer details of an interim agreement. It is now expected that a US delegation will visit India next month for the next round of technical talks. Speaking to the media on the sidelines of the summit, Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal confirmed the upcoming visit of the US delegation and supported the ambassador’s optimism about the schedule of the visit.
Marco Rubio to visit India on May 23
Asked if the US chief negotiator for the bilateral trade deal would accompany Secretary of State Marco Rubio on his upcoming visit to India, Goyal clarified that he would not be accompanying Rubio; However, he mentioned that he plans to visit India next month. Rubio’s four-day official visit to India begins on May 23; This will be his first visit to India and will discuss cooperation in trade, defense and energy sectors.
