EPF Balance: More than 7 crore employees associated with the Employees’ Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) will be given interest at the rate of 8.25 percent in the financial year 2025-26. This was announced in the initial months of this year. Since then, the wait for the interest amount in their accounts of crores of employees has increased. According to experts, generally EPF interest is credited after the last March entry in the passbook is updated. More than 7 crore EPF subscribers can check their EPF passbook online to know whether the interest amount has been credited to their account or whether they will have to wait. For this, users can check through Umang mobile app to decide whether EPF interest has been deposited or not.
What are the rules?
According to EPF rules, more than 7 crore employees associated with companies/factories deposit 12 percent of their basic salary and dearness allowance every month. According to the rules, employers (company/factory owners) also deposit 12 percent of the amount. In this way, 3.67 percent of the amount goes to the EPF account while 8.33 percent is transferred to the EPS account.
How to check EPF balance and interest online
The method of checking the amount in EPF accounts is very easy. If users want, they can check their EPFO passbook online. Details of all transactions and latest interest are given in this passbook.
Note the steps
- You will have to visit the official portal of EPFO passbook.
- Universal Account Number (UAN) will have to be filled.
- You will have to log in by entering the password.
- You have to select your member ID.
- EPF passbook will have to be opened.
- ‘Interest Updated’ entry has to be checked in the EPF passbook.
- The accumulated interest amount will be clearly visible in the passbook.
How to check from Umang app
First of all open Umang app. After this go to ‘Government Services’. Select EPFO option here. Then click on ‘Employee Centric Services’. You have to click on ‘View Passbook’. After this, enter your UAN in the next step. Then click on ‘Get OTP’. Then enter the OTP received on your registered mobile number. Login to access EPF passbook. In the next step, the latest EPF balance and accumulated interest amount will be visible in the passbook.
