Timings of offices, schools and colleges have changed in Punjab, when will they open now?

Amid heat wave alert in Punjab, the government has changed the timings of schools, colleges and government offices. Now schools, colleges and government offices will open from 7:30 in the morning to 1:30 in the afternoon. Now there will be no lunch break in any government office. Chief Minister Bhagwant announced this on Friday. He said that the new orders will continue from May 25 till further orders.

 

CM Bhagwant Mann said that this decision has been taken for the convenience of the common people, so that they can easily get their work done in government offices in this scorching heat. This decision has been taken after proper consultation with all the concerned parties.

Electricity demand increases after 1 o’clock: Mann

CM Bhagwant Mann also informed that the data of Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) shows that the highest demand for electricity occurs after 1 pm. For this reason, the new timings of offices will help in reducing electricity consumption and reducing the pressure on the electricity infrastructure.

Heat wave alert till 27th May

CM Mann said that this decision will give employees more time to spend with their children. Children will also come home at the same time when they also come home from office. The India Meteorological Department had issued an alert of dust storm in Punjab on Friday. Apart from this, there was a possibility of severe heat wave continuing till May 27 in some areas of Haryana, Punjab, Chandigarh and Delhi. On Friday, the maximum temperature in many areas of Punjab reached close to 45 degrees Celsius.
