Two more workers injured in Dewas firecracker factory accident die, death toll reaches 8

Bhopal/Dewas. The death toll in the firecracker factory accident in Tonkkalan in Dewas district of Madhya Pradesh has increased to 8. Two more seriously burnt workers, who were fighting for life and death in Indore’s Maharaja Yashwantrao Hospital, died on Friday night.

According to the hospital management, the laborers who lost their lives on Friday night have been identified as Ajay and Niranjan, who were originally from Bihar. After the blast, both of them were kept on ventilator and critical care support in the burn unit of MY Hospital, Indore, where their condition remained very critical.

Doctors said that in view of the danger of infection in the burn unit, 24-hour special duty was put on shift wise 24-hour shift-wise duty of five nursing staff, but despite all efforts, both could not be saved.

Earlier on Monday night also, another 20-year-old laborer Ram, son of Mukesh Kumar, admitted in MYH, had died. Relief news has come about Vishal (25 years) who was seriously injured during this accident.

The intensity of the explosion was so high that Vishal was thrown into the air and fell a long distance, due to which he suffered serious head injuries and a blood clot was formed.

After being under constant observation in the neuro surgery ward, Vishal’s condition is now much improved and he will be discharged from the hospital after 1 pm today.

Out of the four injured patients admitted in Choithram Hospital of Indore, three have been discharged on Monday. Now only one patient is undergoing treatment there, whose condition is better and he will be discharged on Wednesday.

It is noteworthy that on May 14, more than 20 workers, who were residents of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, were seriously injured in a massive explosion in the firecracker factory located in Tonkkalan, Dewas.

Immediately after the accident, the death of three laborers Dheeraj, Sunny and Sumit was confirmed on the spot. After this, two more laborers Amar and Guddu died during treatment in Amaltas Hospital.

Now after the death of Ram, Ajay and Niranjan, this figure has increased to 8. In this case, the police administration has already arrested 5 accused including main investor Mukesh Vij.
