Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) were playing in their last league match of IPL 2026 against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. RCB’s target was to chase a difficult total of 256 runs, hence everyone’s attention was on Virat Kohli. Unfortunately, Kohli missed out after scoring just 15 runs off 11 balls. Nevertheless, during his short innings, he set another world record.

Kohli made an important opening partnership of 60 runs with Venkatesh Iyer. This is the 211th 50+ opening partnership of this great Indian batsman in his T20 career.

He left England opener Alex Hales behind, who had been part of 210 50+ run partnerships in his T20 career. Apart from Hales and Kohli, only David Warner has made 200-plus fifty-run partnerships in T20 cricket.

During the toss, RCB captain Rajat Patidar revealed that he had missed the last game due to a concussion, but now he is back in the lineup. Jacob Bethel missed the game due to a finger injury. With Bethel ruled out, the opening role was given to Venkatesh Iyer, who had earlier won the Player of the Match award for his performance against Punjab Kings (PBKS). Iyer maintained his excellent form and scored 44 runs in just 19 balls.

SRH won the toss and decided to bat first. They started well, with Abhishek Sharma leading the team with 56 runs off 21 balls. He made two important partnerships with Travis Head and Ishan Kishan for the first two wickets. After this, Kishan continued the attack along with Heinrich Klaasen.

The two added 113 runs for the third wicket, with Klaasen scoring 51 runs. Meanwhile, Kishan was the top scorer with 79 runs. Nitish Reddy finally scored a quick 29 runs in 12 balls and played an important role. They ended their innings at a total of 255/4 after 20 overs.
