Pakistan gave a blow to China, made a deal with Türkiye for 5th generation fighter jets.
Pakistan has given a big blow to China by allegedly signing a big deal with Türkiye for fifth generation fighter jets. According to reports, Islamabad may purchase 65 KAAN stealth fighter jets, which may see a major change in the regional defense equations.
A Turkish defense journalist has claimed that an agreement has been signed between the two countries for the purchase of 65 KAAN fifth generation stealth fighter jets. If the deal is officially confirmed, it could prove to be one of the biggest defense deals in Pakistan’s history and the biggest export success for Turkey for its indigenous fighter jet program KAAN.
KAAN, also previously known as the TF-X or MMU program, is Türkiye’s indigenous fifth-generation stealth fighter aircraft. It has been designed for state-of-the-art air superiority missions. It has been installed with low-observable stealth features, advanced avionics system and powerful engines.
This project is considered very important for Turkey because through this Ankara wants to reduce dependence on foreign defense suppliers and is working towards strengthening its domestic aerospace industry.
According to a website named idrw.org, if Pakistan actually purchases 65 KAAN fighter jets, it will be considered a major strategic change in the capabilities of its Air Force. Modern stealth platforms can significantly strengthen Pakistan’s air power and regional deterrence capability.
Pakistan has already been cooperating with Türkiye on several defense projects. The two countries have also worked together on the JF-17 fighter jet programme. In such a situation, the KAAN deal can take the defense relations between the two countries to a new height.
However, no official statement has been issued yet by Pakistan or Türkiye regarding this alleged deal. Pakistan’s Defense Ministry, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Turkey’s Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI) and Ankara’s Defense Ministry have currently maintained silence on this report. This is the reason why defense experts are currently advising to view this news carefully.
According to defense analysts, Pakistan has been actively involved in the KAAN program for many years. It is said that Pakistani engineers are contributing to the development work of this project and discussions are also going on to set up a joint production facility between the two countries. If this cooperation moves forward, it could lead to technology transfer, local assembly and long-term industrial benefits for both countries.
Türkiye is currently actively promoting the KAAN fighter jet among friendly countries. According to reports, major export agreements are also being negotiated with countries like Indonesia, while Azerbaijan has also shown keen interest in Turkey’s stealth technology. If this deal with Pakistan is officially confirmed, it will further strengthen Türkiye’s position in the global fifth generation fighter jet market.
Although social media and some defense-oriented platforms have spread this claim rapidly, such large defense purchases are usually finalized only after long drawn-out negotiations, funding arrangements and government approvals. Experts say that it is not easy to keep a deal of this level completely secret. Therefore, now everyone’s eyes are fixed on any official statement coming from Turkey and Pakistan, which can confirm or clarify the situation of this alleged $15 billion deal for 65 KAAN fighter jets.
