BSF and Border Guard Bangladesh face to face on the border: BGB objects to fencing work, tension increases

New Delhi: Once again the atmosphere has heated up on the India-Bangladesh border. The situation worsened on Friday due to the installation of barbed wire fencing in Dahgram Angarpota area adjacent to Teenbigha Corridor. It is alleged that as soon as the work of measuring land on the border started, Border Guard Bangladesh i.e. BGB raised objection. After this tension spread in the entire area.

Need to acquire 105 acres of land

According to sources, about 105 acres of land has to be acquired to complete fencing in the open areas bordering Mekhliganj block. Out of this, about 80 acres of land comes in Bangladeshi Chitmahal Dahgram Angarpota located inside India.

On Friday, officials of the Land and Land Reforms Department were doing the measurements in the presence of the land owners. Then some Bangladeshi citizens and BGB soldiers objected to the work, which created a tense situation on the border.

BSF handled the situation, flag meeting took place

However, the Border Security Force BSF showed restraint and handled the situation and did not allow any major conflict. After the incident, MLA Dadhiram Rai himself reached the border area on Saturday. He held a meeting with BSF officials. During this period, a flag meeting also took place between BSF and BGB. Vinod Singh, Commanding Officer of 174th Battalion of BSF and Naziur Rahman, along with several officers from BGB, were present in the meeting.

Displeasure among local people

There is resentment among the local people due to stoppage of work on the border. Village residents Vishnupad Rai and Jayanath Rai said that development work on Indian land is being repeatedly hampered. Work on Indian soil was stopped on Friday also.

But BSF handled the situation with patience and understanding. The administration says that it is necessary to complete the fencing work quickly to prevent infiltration, smuggling and illegal activities. Security on the border may be further tightened in the coming days.

BJP MLA showed strictness

After the meeting, MLA Dadhiram Rai took a strict stance. He said that as per the instructions of the state government, the work of barbed wire fencing will have to be completed in the next 45 days. There will be no compromise on the issue of country’s security. If there is any obstruction from Bangladesh, it will be responded to strongly.
