Gas explosion in China’s coal mine: 82 people killed, 9 still trapped in the mine
Explosion in a Chinese Coal Mine: The massive gas explosion that occurred late on Friday night in the Liushenyu coal mine located in China’s northern Shanxi province shocked the entire country. So far, 82 laborers have been confirmed dead in this tragic accident, while 9 people are still reported missing. About 247 workers were working inside the mine at the time of the explosion. The explosion was so powerful that it caused huge damage in many parts of the mine and created chaos inside.

According to Chinese state media Xinhua, relief and rescue teams immediately reached the spot and started the operation and evacuated more than 200 workers safely. However, many laborers were trapped inside, the search for whom is continuing. Initially the death toll was reported to be low, but later the figure rapidly increased to 82. This sudden increase has further increased the seriousness of the accident.
After the incident, President Xi Jinping directed the officials that there should be no negligence in the rescue work and the injured should be provided immediate better treatment. He has also ordered an in-depth investigation into the causes of the accident and strict action against those responsible. Prime Minister Li Qiang also stressed transparent investigation and timely release of accurate information.
According to Chinese state media Xinhua, some officials of the company running the mine have been detained. There have been cases of gas leakage and mine accidents in China before, but this is considered to be one of the most horrific accidents in recent years. At present, relief operations are going on at the spot on a war footing and security has been increased in the entire area.
