Travel Tips: Make your car shine abroad and drive your car freely in these 8 countries.

Often when people plan to travel abroad, they definitely dream of driving on their own (Self-Drive Road Trip) on the beautiful roads there. But most people feel that to drive abroad they will have to pay huge fees to get an International Driving Permit (IDP) or Global License. If you also think the same, then we clear your confusion. There are many very beautiful and big countries in the world, which give legal permission to Indian tourists to drive a car or bike on the roads only on the basis of their valid ‘Indian Driving License’. However, there are some small but important conditions for this, like your license should be in English. Let us know about those 8 best countries where you can enjoy a road trip freely with an Indian license. 1. America: Drive without any restriction for one year. In America, famous for superloads and amazing highways, you can drive for a full year on your Indian driving license. The only condition is that your license should be completely valid and in English language. Along with this, you will have to keep a copy of ‘Form I-94’ with you, which tells on which date you have entered the US. However, in America the car is driven on the ‘right side’ (right side of the road), so drive with caution. 2. United Kingdom (UK): Indian style on British roads. You can enjoy driving for a whole year with the help of Indian driving license in the beautiful valleys of Great Britain i.e. England, Wales and Scotland. It is very easy for Indians to drive here because like India, in UK too, cars are driven on the left side of the road (Left-Hand Drive). You just have to keep in mind that you can rent only that vehicle whose permission is mentioned on your Indian license. 3. Australia: Roads are open for three months. It is everyone’s dream to drive on the ‘Great Ocean Road’ of Australia, the country of kangaroos. In major states of Australia like New South Wales, Queensland and South Australia, you can easily drive on your Indian license for 3 months. Like India, here too there is left-side driving. Keep in mind that your license must be in English and in some states it is considered better to carry an IDP for security. 4. Germany: The real thrill of speed on the expressway. If you are fond of fast speed and great cars, then Germany’s ‘Autobahn’ highways are waiting for you. Germany allows Indian driving license holders to drive for full 6 months after entering the country. If your license is in Hindi or any other regional language, you will need to get it translated into German from the local authorities. German police is very strict in terms of rules and discipline, so follow the traffic rules completely. 5. New Zealand: Carefree journey amidst nature. New Zealand, one of the most beautiful countries in the world, is known for its quiet paths and mountains. Here you can rent and drive a car without any worries for 1 year (12 months) with the help of Indian driving license. The official requirement of this country is that you must be at least 21 years of age and your license must be printed in English in clear letters. 6. Switzerland: Driving through snowfall and valleys, it is now very easy to do a road trip in Switzerland, the favorite location of Bollywood films. The Swiss government allows Indian tourists to drive for 1 year on their domestic license. Your license must be in English or you must have its official English/French translation. Rental companies here easily accept Indian licenses. 7. France: Long drive in the country of the Eiffel Tower. Driving on the roads of France, the country of romance and art, will no longer be a dream. You can drive in France for a full year with the help of an Indian driving license. However, before going to France, make sure to get a certified translation of your Indian license into French, as it may be demanded at the local level. 8. South Africa: Enjoy wildlife and coastal routes. Indian driving license is fully valid in South Africa, a country with forests, safaris and beautiful beaches. You can drive here on your license for 1 year. According to the rules, your clear photo, signature and all the information on your license should be written in English. Here too, like in India, cars are driven on the left side of the road, due to which Indian drivers do not face any problems.
