What is the real meaning of Trust Initiative?
After Operation Sindoor, there was some deterioration in trust between India and America. In this meeting, an attempt was made to strengthen that trust again. It is believed that both the sides put forward their expectations. India is currently facing the double threat of China and Pakistan. America’s increasing proximity to Pakistan is creating new concerns. China is a big challenge for America. These issues were discussed between Doval and Rubio. The Ministry of External Affairs has called this a trust initiative.
Discussion on Iran, oil gas and critical minerals
Issues related to national security like Iran, oil gas and critical minerals were also discussed in the meeting. The spokesperson of the Ministry of External Affairs also mentioned this in his post. From India’s side, the biggest emphasis was on America’s stance on terrorism. Action against terrorism has always been the first priority for India.
Rubio’s statement on India-US friendship
It is noteworthy that Marco Rubio made it clear that there are no ups and downs in India-US relations. In the meeting with Foreign Minister S Jaishankar, he said that we have so many common interests that taking the partnership forward is right for the whole world.
It’s not about fixing or re-strengthening the relationship. This is a matter of taking the already strong strategic partnership further. He said that this is one of our most important partnerships and also the most important partnership in the world.
