Aimim Councilor Matin Patel Summoned In Nashik Corporate Jihad Case
Sambhajinagar councilor Matin Patel, president of All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM), has been summoned in the alleged ‘corporate jihad’ case related to the Nashik BPO unit of Tata Consultancy Services (TCS).
Officials informed on Monday (May 25) that the Special Investigation Team (SIT) of Nashik Police has ordered Matin Patel to appear for questioning in connection with the investigation into certain aspects of the case and allegations of allegedly providing help to accused Nida Khan. Police said that further investigation of the case is going on.
Earlier on May 22, Nashik Police had filed a 1,500-page preliminary charge sheet against the accused in this case in the Additional Sessions and Special Court located at Nashik Road. This chargesheet is the first chargesheet filed after investigation into allegations of rape and hurting religious sentiments. The case was originally registered at Devlali police station in Nashik.
Apart from this, eight more FIRs have been lodged by TCS employees at Mumbai Naka police station. Of these, chargesheet has been filed in only one case at present. According to the statement issued by the team of Nashik Police Commissioner Sandeep Karnik, the SIT has collected evidence related to the alleged forced conversion of the victim, on the basis of which a case of hurting religious sentiments has also come to light.
Police have seized the original documents used to change the name and identity of the victim from the accused. Along with this, WhatsApp chats, screenshots and other digital evidence obtained from the mobile phones of the victim and the accused have also been captured.
Danish Ejaz Shaikh, Tausif Bilal Attar, Nida Ejaz Khan and AIMIM leader Matin Patel have been made accused in this chargesheet. None of these accused have got bail yet.
The case attracted widespread attention and outrage across the country after allegations of systematic workplace harassment and forced conversion surfaced.
