Green Vegetables Price: There is a huge difference between the prices of vegetables in the market and at retail, okra is Rs 3, ridge gourd is Rs 6 and bitter gourd is Rs 15 per kg.
New Delhi. The prices of green vegetables have fallen badly in the wholesale market. Ladyfinger is being sold at Rs 3, Boda at Rs 3, ridge gourd at Rs 6, bitter gourd at Rs 15 per kg. Bottle gourd is also available for Rs 5 to 10 per piece. Green chilli has come at Rs 40 per kg. At first glance you may think this is fake news, but it is 100 percent true. There is a huge difference between the market rate and retail rate of green vegetables.

Retail and wholesale rates of green vegetables
Shivsagar runs a vegetable shop in Delhi. Bringing vegetables from Azadpur Mandi is his daily work. He told that in Azadpur Mandi of Delhi on Saturday, Bhindi was sold at Rs 20 per kg and in retail it was being sold at Rs 60. Ridge gourd was sold at Rs 15 per kg, Amroha ridge gourd at Rs 24 per kg, local ridge gourd at Rs 25 per kg, Boda at Rs 20 per kg, bitter gourd at Rs 12 per kg. These vegetables are being sold in retail at Rs 40 to 60 per kg.
On the other hand, if we talk about retail rates, the retail rates of these vegetables in any metropolitan city from Delhi-Noida are Rs 40 to Rs 60 per kg. Whereas, in small towns and villages the difference is only two to three times.

If a farmer brings 1 quintal of gunny bag to the market, he feeds 1 quintal to the cow.
Fields are blooming with green vegetables, yet why are farmers sad?
In Mathauli town of this district, farmer Girja Yadav has taken a farm on rent i.e. Hundi. The ladyfinger crop is flourishing in his field. The plants are covered with ladybugs. On Sunday morning, Church and two other members of his family were busy plucking ladyfinger in his field. Despite plucking many bags of ladyfinger, there was no happiness on his face. Church was saying that leave aside the cost, even his wages were not being paid. If you sell one quintal of ladyfinger in the market, you will get Rs 300. You will get at least 600 in your local market.
Girja Yadav says that when there was unseasonal rain, the production of green vegetables suddenly increased. Due to this, the prices of green vegetables fell significantly in mandis and small markets also. These ladyfinger, bitter gourd, parwal, ridge gourd were above Rs 60 a month ago. Apart from this, people have now started growing green vegetables on rooftops also. This is also affecting the market.
