Here, in Bhatkal, Karnataka, 11 people of the same family died due to drowning while collecting oysters in Tattihakkal river on Sunday afternoon. There were a total of 14 people, out of which 3 were rescued. According to NDRF, information about the incident was received at 5 pm on Sunday evening. 10 bodies were recovered today.

Police said that all 8 people had left for Satara from Harne in Dapoli in an SUV at 2 am on Sunday night. When he did not reach Satara, his family members started searching for him in the afternoon. When nothing was found, the police was contacted. On Monday morning, police found a badly damaged SUV in an 800 feet deep gorge.

After this the local rescue team was called. After this it was lowered into the ditch. 2 bodies were rescued. Location of 3 dead bodies found. The search for the remaining bodies is ongoing. The bodies were taken out of the ditch with caution.
