Heatwave outbreak in Uttarakhand: 6 districts are boiling due to scorching heat, know when will they get relief

Heatwave in Uttarakhand has made life difficult for people and at present there does not seem to be any respite from this scorching heat. In this hilly state called Devbhoomi, the weather is usually pleasant at the end of May, but this time the sun is blazing from the plains to the high mountains. The situation is such that as soon as one steps out of the house, the heat waves scorch the face and the roads are almost deserted during the day.

The latest bulletin of the Meteorological Center has further increased the concerns of the people. It is being told that the situation is going to become more difficult for the next three days (25 to 27 May) in 6 major districts of the state including Dehradun, Haridwar and Nainital. In view of this, the Meteorological Department has issued a proper alert of heat wave. The administration is also continuously appealing to the people not to go out unnecessarily in the scorching afternoon sun.

Uttarakhand heatwave alert: Sun’s harsh intensity in the plains

In fact, the maximum and minimum temperatures across the state are currently several degrees above normal. The condition of the plain cities is the worst. If we look at the figures, on Monday the mercury in Roorkee, Haridwar crossed 41.8 degrees Celsius, which was the highest recorded in entire Uttarakhand. Such intense heat has not only slowed down the pace of normal life but has also surprised the tourists coming in search of cooler areas.

On the other hand, the heat is clearly being felt in the mountainous areas also. The minimum temperature in the mountains is also continuously increasing. However, Mukteshwar in Nainital district recorded the lowest minimum temperature of 15.4 degrees Celsius, but people there are also feeling the heat during the day. According to the local people, this time the heat of the mountains is being felt more stinging than in the last few years.

Strict instructions from Meteorological Department regarding heat wave in these districts

In fact, the Meteorological Department has made it completely clear that there is a strong possibility of severe heat wave in many areas of Haridwar, Udham Singh Nagar, Dehradun, Pauri, Nainital and Champawat districts on 25, 26 and 27 May. This time can be especially dangerous for those who travel on two-wheelers or work in the field during the day. Both health experts and the Meteorological Department have advised to leave homes only if absolutely necessary between 12 noon and 3 pm. While going out, keep the body completely covered and keep drinking water or liquids regularly.

When will the weather change and we will get relief?

There is also a news of relief amidst this scorching and scorching heat. According to the weather forecast, this severe heat wave is not going to last for very long. There may not be any significant change in the maximum temperature for the next 2 to 3 days, but right after this the weather will take a turn. It is expected that after three days there will be a sudden drop in mercury of 2 to 4 degrees Celsius. This decline will be no less than a lifesaver for the common people.

Meanwhile, signs of slight change in the weather have also started coming from the higher Himalayan regions. Sporadic rain has been recorded in the higher Himalayan parts in the last 24 hours. There has been light rainfall of 2.1 mm in Joshimath, 1.0 mm in Champawat and 0.1 mm in Kedarnath Dham. Even though this rain is very minor, it is an indication that soon the weather in the plains and lower hilly areas will also change and people will be able to get permanent relief from this scorching heat wave.
