Gulmarg Ropeway Malfunctions: Malfunction in ropeway in Gulmarg, Jammu and Kashmir, 300 tourists stuck in the air, army deployed for rescue.


New Delhi. The cable car service suddenly stopped due to a technical fault in the ropeway in Gulmarg, Jammu and Kashmir today. Due to this reason about 300 tourists got stuck in the air in the cabin of the ropeway. After the incident, the tourists trapped in the ropeway got scared and there was screaming. As soon as information about this was received, the army also reached there for rescue and relief work. The team of 9 Raj Rifles of the Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police and civil administration have together started the rescue operation. Tourists trapped in the Gondola are being brought down safely one by one.

With the help of stairs and ropes, the rescue team is taking out the tourists trapped in the cabin of the Gondola. There is no news of any casualty. SDM and Tehsildar of Tangmarg have also reached the spot. While Jammu and Kashmir Police DGP Nalin Prabhat has also left for Gulmarg. It is being told that most of the tourists have been taken down safely. Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha is continuously monitoring the rescue operation. He told that I have instructed the DGP to go to the spot. A joint rescue team of Police, Army, SDRF, DC and SSP is carrying out operations to ensure the safety of all tourists.

While giving information regarding this incident, the Chief Minister’s Office has said that all the cabins are safe and trained teams are engaged in rescue work to rescue the stranded tourists. The situation is completely under control and there is no need to panic. The government is keeping a close watch on the entire incident. A technical team is also present at the spot which is trying to find out why the ropeway malfunctioned.
