Both teams finished the league stage on 18 points from 14 matches, RCB claiming the top spot by virtue of a superior net run rate and both have been arguably the two most complete sides of IPL 2026. The winner goes straight to the final. The loser gets one more chance through Qualifier 2 on May 29.

RCB under Rajat Patidar have built their campaign on aggressive batting led by Virat Kohli and a considerably more reliable bowling unit than in previous seasons Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s Purple Cap campaign and Josh Hazlewood’s disciplined lengths have given them a bowling identity that was missing in their title-winning 2025 run.

A win for RCB sends them to Ahmedabad to prepare for the final with six days’ rest. A win for GT does the same. Dharamsala with the mountains watching over every delivery is not an ordinary venue for an ordinary playoff game.

As of the latest update there are still tickets available across several categories, though East Stand 2 has already sold out. Given the demand for this fixture there is no guarantee remaining categories will stay available for long.

- The gates at the HPCA Stadium open at 4:30 PM with the match beginning at 7:30 PM IST. Tickets are valid for ages two and above and the venue is wheelchair accessible with free water stations and washrooms available throughout.
- The stadium is an outdoor seated venue, check your specific stand and entry gate information carefully before arriving as the mountain venue has a particular layout that first-time visitors can find confusing.
- You can purchase up to 10 tickets per transaction and must complete your purchase within 10 minutes of reaching the front of the queue.
