Horrific accident on Lucknow-Agra Expressway: Double decker AC bus overturned out of control, 6 including sub-inspector and prisoner killed

Lucknow Agra Expressway Accident: A high-speed double-decker AC bus going from Delhi to Bihar overturned on the Lucknow-Agra Expressway near Unnao on Tuesday morning. In this tragic accident, 6 people including an inspector and a prisoner have died, while 15 other passengers have been injured.

A heartbreaking road accident took place in the early hours of Tuesday in Unnao district of Uttar Pradesh. A double decker AC bus filled with passengers went out of control and overturned on the Lucknow-Agra Expressway. This accident happened near kilometer number 262 in Auras police station area at around 5 am. There were about 30 passengers in the bus at the time of the accident, most of whom were fast asleep.

According to initial police investigation and eyewitnesses, the speed of the bus was very fast. The driver suddenly fell asleep and lost control of the vehicle, after which the bus collided with the divider, overturned and hung on the railing. The collision was so severe that many passengers fell out of the windows directly onto the expressway. During this time, a passenger’s leg was cut off and separated from his body.

Inspector and prisoners of Bihar also included among the dead

Five people have lost their lives in this horrific accident. Inspector Ramchandra Ram (59), posted at Siwan Police Line in Bihar, and prisoner Chhattarpal Singh Tomar (59), resident of Gurugram, have been identified among the deceased. According to the information, the Siwan Police team had taken the prisoner for appearance in Gurugram court on May 24 and this accident happened while returning back to Bihar. Efforts to identify the other three deceased are still ongoing.

What did DM Ghanshyam Meena say?

DM Ghanshyam Meena said that a total of 6 people have died so far. Five died on the spot and one died during treatment. Four of the injured have been sent to the Medical College, Lucknow. The relatives of the deceased have been informed.

Relief work continues

There was an outcry on the spot after the accident, after which the local police immediately started the rescue operation. Police called a crane and removed the bus from the road and made the traffic smooth. A total of 15 people including 3 policemen have been injured in this incident. The injured were first admitted to the Community Health Center (CHC) of Auras, from where the seriously injured passengers were referred to Lucknow Trauma Center and District Hospital.
