John Joseph, also known as Joel, the production designer of Bollywood’s blockbuster hit film ‘Dhurandhar’, is now facing serious allegations. Chandigarh Police has registered a case of rape against him. A girl has said in her complaint that during the shooting of the film, the accused took her to a hotel and forcibly had physical relations with her and later even assaulted her. Based on the complaint of the girl, the police have registered a case in the police station Sector-17. In this case, action has been initiated under sections 74, 79, 123, 126(2) and other relevant sections of the Indian Judicial Code. The police is now thoroughly investigating the entire matter and is working to collect all the evidence.
Victimized on the pretext of getting work.
This girl, resident of Nagpur, told in her complaint to the police that in the year 2025, the shooting of the film ‘Dhurandhar’ was going on in Tagore Theater located in Sector-18, Chandigarh. During that time, he met John Joseph, who was associated with the film’s production team. The accused befriended the girl and assured her of getting a good role in the film. Also promised to provide work in many future projects. According to the girl, the conversation between the two continued to increase. Then on September 2, 2025, accused John Joseph took her to a hotel located in Sector-17. There the accused forcibly had physical relations with her. The girl says that the accused also threatened her not to tell anything about this incident to anyone. Later the accused also assaulted her.
Earlier also an actor was accused of rape
This is not the first case when an artist or crew member associated with the film ‘Dhurandhar’ has been accused of rape. In January this year, Mumbai Police had also filed a rape case against Nadeem Khan, who played the role of Akshaye Khanna’s (Rahman Dacoit) cook ‘Akhlaq’ in the film. He was accused of rape and prolonged sexual abuse by a female domestic worker. Nadeem Khan was also arrested by the police.
Exploitation for 10 years by false promise of marriage
In another incident related to this news, a woman was accused of having a physical relationship for 10 years with a false promise of marriage. The woman had first lodged a complaint at Versova police station, which was later transferred to Malvani police station. The police took immediate action and arrested the accused. The films ‘Dhurandhar’ and ‘Dhurandhar-2’ are made under the direction of Aditya Dhar. Both the films were superhit and broke many records at the box office. These films gained immense popularity among the audience. Police say that this new case is being fully investigated. Strict action will be taken keeping all the facts in mind. At present, no arrest has been made against the accused John Joseph, but the police may call him for questioning soon.
