Thalapathy Vijay in action mode as soon as he becomes Chief Minister, will meet PM Modi for the first time in Delhi

Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay’s first official visit to Delhi after registering a historic victory in power in Tamil Nadu has been the talk of the town in political circles. This visit on Wednesday is not only a test of his leadership, but is also considered to be the beginning of new relations between the Center and the state. During his first visit to Delhi, CM Vijay will meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union ministers and top Congress leadership. The entire country is keeping an eye on his visit to see whether he will return from Delhi with any special ‘development package’ for Tamil Nadu. Vijay is viewing his first visit to Delhi as Chief Minister very strategically with the Centre’s emphasis on development ‘blueprint’ and financial assistance. There is immense pressure on him to speed up new development projects in the state. Political experts believe that CM Vijay may place before the Central Government a demand for huge financial assistance for infrastructure development, new industrial projects and various public-welfare schemes in Tamil Nadu. Central approval and cooperation for the development of the state is the main agenda of his visit. Along with this, Vijay will unveil the statue of great Tamil poet Thiruvalluvar installed at the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) campus in Delhi. The event reflects his vision to highlight the cultural heritage of Tamil Nadu at the national level. Struggled journey from actor to Chief Minister Vijay’s journey from cinema’s ‘Thalapathy’ to becoming the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu is no less than a film script. It was a big challenge to break the monopoly of the DMK and AIADMK, the giants of Dravidian politics that had been established in the state for decades. Vijay, through his party ‘Tamiljha Vetri Kazhagam’ (TVK), kept public issues at the center and gained hold at the grassroots level. In this journey he also faced challenges like massive opposition and the unfortunate stampede at his rally, where the arrest of party leaders raised questions over his political future. However, despite all these obstacles, Vijay maintained his influence among the people and eventually reached the threshold of power. Story of political alliance and single-handed victory An important aspect of Vijay’s politics is his independent image. Just before the assembly elections, he had made it clear that he would not form any alliance with DMK, AIADMK or BJP. According to reports, he had also proposed an alliance to the Congress, but the Congress decided to go with its old ally DMK. After this, Vijay took a bold decision to enter the electoral fray on the strength of his party TVK, which proved to be very successful for him. At present, this visit of CM Vijay to Delhi will prove to be decisive in the political future of Tamil Nadu and the direction of his coordination with the Centre.
