Inflation hits air travel! Many domestic flights will fly less from June to August, tickets may also become expensive
Domestic Flights Ticket Price: The rising prices of ATF i.e. aviation fuel has increased the cost of airlines, due to which Air India and Indigo are going to reduce many domestic flights.
Domestic Flights Ticket Price Hike: Currently, oil prices are skyrocketing across the world. Be it vehicles on the road or vehicles in the sky, everyone seems to be troubled by these rising oil prices. This is the reason why the country’s two biggest airlines, Air India and Indigo, have decided to cut domestic flights amid rising fuel prices and weak travel demand.
According to the airlines, there will be less flights on many routes from June to August, due to which passengers are likely to get expensive tickets and less options.
According to reports, the prices of Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF) i.e. aviation fuel is continuously increasing. About 40 percent of the total expenditure of airlines goes only on fuel. In such a situation, the financial pressure on companies has increased significantly.
How many flights will be cut?
It is being told that Air India can reduce its domestic operations by 15% to 22%, while Indigo is preparing to reduce flights by about 5% to 7%. This change will currently be applicable for 90 days.
Which routes may be affected?
According to airlines, some flights from Mumbai to Ahmedabad, Nagpur, Patna and Bhopal may be reduced. There is also a possibility of reduction in the number of flights on Delhi to Hyderabad, Bengaluru and Kolkata routes.
What do experts say
Experts believe that due to the increasing tension in West Asia and the situation related to Iran, the prices of crude oil have gone up. Apart from this, the expenses of airlines have also increased due to problems like closure of Pakistan airspace, because many international flights have to take long routes.
However, airlines say that this step is temporary and the number of flights can be increased again once the situation becomes normal. But at present, passengers may have to face difficulty in ticket booking and increase in fares.
